A bigger board. New pieces. You can program it any way you want.
Super Chess 16x16 is a chess variant on a 256-square board with eleven unique piece types — the orthodox six (King, Queen, Rook, Bishop, Knight, Pawn) plus five new super pieces (Prince, Princess, Archbishop, Super Knight, Fortress). Any piece can also be reprogrammed — you author its movement at runtime. Patent Pending.

Only 49 of 50 tester spots left
We need 50 real testers for the Android app. Sign up, install the app, and actually play it — about 10 days out of every 15, roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes each time. That is what Google Play needs to release the app, and Google monitors tester activity. Keep that up and your one-year membership is free. If the testing is not kept up, the free-year tester membership ends.
Not here to test? That is fine — everyone who signs up during our launch period gets 3 months free to try the whole site. After your free time, membership is just $4.99/month — no credit card to start, and it covers both the app and the website.
Heads up — we are putting the final touches on the website and Super Chess 16x16 goes live to the public soon. Grab a tester spot while they last.
Why Super Chess 16x16
16 × 16 board, 256 squares
Four times the playing area of orthodox chess. Longer games, deeper tactics, more room for piece coordination.
Eleven unique piece types
The orthodox six (King, Queen, Rook, Bishop, Knight, Pawn) plus five super pieces (Prince, Princess, Archbishop, Super Knight, Fortress). The Pawn also comes in a super-pawn variant; any piece can additionally be reprogrammed.
Pick your own colors
Forget black-and-white — chess has been stuck on those two colors for 1500 years and we are done with it. Each player chooses their own piece colors before the match begins: red vs blue, gold vs silver, neon vs noir, your country's flag, your favourite team, whatever fits the mood. Your army looks like your army. And there is no "white-moves-first" rule pinned to a specific color — the side that makes the first move is just a per-game setting, picked when you create the match.
Reprogram every piece
Every piece on your side — King, Queen, Rook, Bishop, Knight, every one — can be reprogrammed by you. Click destination squares to teach a piece new moves. Both players do this independently; your Knight can move differently from theirs. Nothing else like it.
