The clock switches sides automatically after every move — you never press a button. A player whose clock reaches 0 forfeits the game on time.
Pick a piece and click Program. The board clears and the piece sits on the center square. Tick how it may move, then click squares to add its moves; right-click a green dot to remove it. Click Done to save — the piece then moves that way in the game. Idle.
Piece legend
How to play — click a piece, click a destination
- Click any of your pieces. Every legal destination square lights up automatically — teal for empty squares, red for opponent pieces you can capture.
- Click one of the lit squares to move. Empty square → your piece lands there. Red square → you capture the opponent's piece.
- If your King is attacked, the King's square gets a pink ring — that is check. You must move out of check, block, or capture the attacker.
- If you cannot escape check, that is checkmate and the game ends.
- Use Undo to take back the last move (in a vs-Bot game it takes back BOTH the bot's reply and your move).
Colors — make the board your own
Open Settings to change colors. Two one-click themes: Default colors (green/purple board, red vs blue pieces) and Black & white. Or set each side's piece color and the light/dark square colors yourself with the color pickers; each has a reset-to-default button. Your choice is saved on your device.
Timer — optional clock
The timer is OFF by default — no clock, move whenever you like. Turn it on in Settings → Timer, set each player's minutes, and a clock appears. It switches sides automatically after every move (no button to press); a player whose clock hits zero forfeits on time.
Program a piece — give it new moves
In Settings → Program the chess game: pick a piece and click Program. The board clears and the piece sits on the center square. Tick how it may move — Jump (leap over pieces), Slide (travel until blocked), Step (one space, clear path); pick one or more. Click squares to add its moves (right-click a green dot to remove one), then Done to save. The engine validates every move — including the ones you authored — with the same patent-pending data-driven move generator that drives the desktop and Google Play apps.
